Legal requirements include legislation and regulations, as well as licenses, permits, authorizations and orders issued under the authority of legislation. Legal requirements pertaining to the environment also include legal agreements made between Coulson Group and other parties and which pertain to environmental aspects.
The EMS development included a review to identify all legal requirements and industry obligations related to the environmental operations and activities of the Coulson Group of Companies. The environmental legislation and permits relevant to Coulson Group manufacturing operations are listed in on the following page.
3.2.1 Responsibility
The Environment Manager is responsible for tracking changes to legal and other requirements and ensuring that the EMS addresses all applicable obligations. The Environment Manager is responsible for ensuring that legal and other requirements are reviewed annually and any necessary changes to the EMS are completed.
The Environment Manager and the General Manager maintain the paper and electronic formats of applicable legislation. These two personnel are required to keep the EMS current with respect to legal and other requirements as new information is learned through colleagues, industry organization interactions and publications, government agencies and through the results of audits, inspections and other services provided by external parties.
Couslon Group subscribes to Quickscribe Services Ltd., whose BC Environment Legislation Manual includes relevant Provincial legislation. The Quickscribe service provides hard copy updates to the manual within 30 days of changes to environmental legislation.
